Fitness tips for busy women

On Women’s Day, I talked about Fitness tips for busy women at an event in the Apartment society where we stay. Here are the tips I shared including aspects for five different areas of fitness.
Stress management
Pick some energisers that rejuvenate you every day. For me it has been Meditation and music. They are incredible mood boosters in my daily routine. Journalling at the end of the day helps me reflect on my day, especially when I list 3 wins inspired by the book “The gap and the gain”.
Nutrition
It is very important to stick to boundaries like no deep-fried items and no sugar. As a woman, one of the breakthrough tips I found was in the book “The PCOD Thyroid Book” by author Rujuta Diwekar. A natural remedy of having soaked raisins every day turned out to be a life changer for me. My menstrual cramps completely disappeared and they haven’t come back in years.
Exercise
Short and intense workouts are something that every busy woman prefers these days. But what is important is to follow the right form to stay injury free. From my years of marathon running experience, the three minimum steps for a beginner runner I would say are to warm up, practice Breath control and cool down every time. Research 2-in-2-out breathing when it comes to running steadily and for a longer time.
Sleep
In the book “Why We Sleep” the author emphasises keeping the sleep environment “cold, dark and silent” as the ideal sleep setting. After having a child recently, I added cuddle to this. So I follow CDCS – calm, dark, cuddle and silent. A repetitive night routine matters a lot when it comes to fooling the mind into sleeping automatically. Staying away from devices at least an hour before sleep matters, and also dimming the lights to indicate to your body that it is nighttime.
Medication
After the age of 35, it is mandatory that we get an annual check-up for the main markers of the body. Supplementing and medicating for known weaknesses is important when you want to prevent issues in the body. Also, make sure you ask your doctor about lifestyle change recommendations whenever you go in for any treatment. Some medicines can only treat the symptoms, but the root causes are often hidden in poor lifestyle.
Hope these tips help you in some way. Leave a comment if something resonated with you. And have a happy International Women’s Day.
