Diwali Lighting DIY to brighten your home
I am finally back after a long gap. And this time I brought you a few tips for the ongoing Indian festival of lights – Diwali. How many of us are tempted to decorate your house on this bright festival in India? Pretty much everyone. Irrespective of the fact whether we are Hindus or not.
So here goes a list of few Diwali lighting ideas you can make yourself:
Hanging stars:
It’s cakewalk really. Placing mini candles inside colored unused mini bottles or transparent cups and hanging them from the neck at the windows and balconies. Here you see the mini candles in a colored base which is nothing but colored glitter tapes around the candle wall.
Bottle Art:
Paint some bottles and insert electric mini lights inside. Here the creativity lies in the painting. Go for either Hindu Gods and Goddesses, flowers and traditional art or simply abstract as shown in the image. The Abstract one can go further as decoration on other occasions as well.
Chinese lanterns:
All you need is colorful craft paper, glue, and scissors. Roll up a thicker(not opaque) piece of paper into the cylinder where the lamp will go. The rest of the decoration on and around the cylinder is all up to you. Try papercutting, patterning, hanging frills or painting on it, etc. Basically, let your creativity loose.
Floating Gems:
Go beyond the usual tray of floating candles with flowers. Try adding marbles at the bottom of a glass and then the flowers topped with the candle. Feel free to experiment with laces as borders for the glass or ribbons of course.
Lighted Floor patterns(Rangoli):
Ah, the traditional Rangoli or Floor pattern made during every festival in India, how can we forget it. There is no prettier sight than a rangoli adorned with diyas(lamps). Gone are the days when Rangoli was the weapon of a skilled few. With the trends of using stencils and stickers flourishing, anybody can have one at their doorsteps. And yes, don’t forget the lamps. No Diwali without diya(lamps).
What fascinates you about Diwali most? Going by this blog, I am sure you figured what my favorite part of Diwali is. Lamps, of course. Share how you light up your house during Diwali.
