Minimum Maintenance for body and mind

maintenance habits

Many of us take care of our body regularly. Do we take care of our mind with the same care and attention? Some low maintenance habits are listed here in order to polish your mind just as your body.

Clean it

Hygiene is taught to us as kids. The simple habits of washing hands, taking shower, washing our clothes and cleaning our shoes are instilled in us in early ages. How many parents, make it a point to prevent junk from entering the minds of their growing kids? Even as adults, we are hardly ever conscious about what we are exposing our minds to.

To clear the mind the regularly, we need to allow it to scatter. Let it be bored. Stop stimulating it with a million activities. Stare at a cloud. Meditate. Lie down and look at the ceiling fan. No decisions involved. Clearing the mind is as important as cleaning the body. And the art of doing nothing is becoming really rare. We need to make it cool again.

Move it

It is recommended to exercise at least half an hour each day. Intense and invigorating. Not a like garden walk or climbing some steps. Keeping the body moving is like keeping your car on road. The more it sits in Garage, the lesser the performance in long term. Our mind needs to take a drive out in the sun regularly too.

I remember how easily my dad to make numerical calculations without calculator. Our generation is completely dependent on the mobile calculator for the simplest of calculations. Practise to take simple decisions each day. It could be as simple as making a plan on where to eat. Try asking less questions to your superior at work and employ your brain to come up with alternate solutions. Take a new path to office today. Wear your clothes in a different style tomorrow. Try using your wrong hand for some actions.

Feed it

Our body runs on the fuel of food. The mind needs it too. Our consumption of information can be through reading, watching videos or experiencing it through travel. This consumption is often not intentional, in such cases the mind will find junk to consume wherever available.

Netflix series, pointless tiktok videos or toxic news articles are few of such examples. It is advisable to read non fiction for self improvement or read fiction to be more creative. Sharpen your skills through the life time expertise of the authors. Why spend a whole life figuring out things that several authors have already lived, learnt and documented?

Hope this blog inspired you to focus on the health of your mind as well as your body. Simple tips wiht greta results.
