How to find what suits you

The various factors to look for in a well-suited garment are as listed below. This can help someone start off with becoming more fashion-aware but a lot more goes into the best kind of styling. So, how do you find what suits you? Here are some aspects to consider.

style

FIT:

Wear rightly fitted clothes. Lose clothes may be comfortable at a Yoga class or a holiday but for daily-wear restrain from going for too lose clothes. At work, fitted clothes attribute to Power-dressing and at college, it helps social capital. Maintain the health and fitness such that anything looks good on you and finding fitting clothes is not tough. But until you are not willing to put that effort you will have to work hard on finding the right fit in terms of shoulders, waist, and hips. Go for tailored options if required but do not be lazy. Even an ordinary outfit looks great if the fit is right.

COLOR:

It is a myth that darker complexion has a limitation in terms of choices of color. It’s believed that anybody can carry any color given the right place and the right confidence for it. Though the common trend is to wear simple and formal colors in terms of clothes and accessorize to add jazzy colors, it will be fun to add bold-colored clothes in your wardrobe and express your style through it. It is a standard rule that you need to accentuate the part of your body which is thinner. So if you are top heavy choose dark colored tops and wear them with colorful bottoms. Do the reverse if you are bottom heavy. If you are fit then don’t hide your great body behind boring old formal colors. Wear the whites and wear the bold colors with good fitting silhouettes.

MATERIAL:

The weather and situation define the choice of material to a huge extent but as per your body shape, you need to think before choosing it. Say you have a round shaped body and you choose a tight fit synthetic material, it unnecessarily highlights your body segments. Cotton may be great for formal-wear but there are a lot of options these days with silk and synthetic office-wear too. Go for semi-casual materials because they serve the purpose of being both day and night wear options. Layering with too much cloth is good for a special occasion maybe but not for every day. Your skin needs air and even the fabric needs to breathe. Its become oddly common for women to choose very thick tightly fitted pants and in turn hurt their skin with hardly any breathing space between fabric and body.

EXPRESSION:

It is just too easy to follow the trend blindly and go for what everyone is wearing but judging whether that particular trend suits you or not is up to you. Express what you feel and what you stand for by means of what you wear. Its alright if you want to wear just two sets of clothes the whole week and keep it simple. That’s your style. Size or price of your wardrobe should not be a criterion for your choice. It should be a lifestyle expression. Choose younger colors if you feel young, choose sportier clothes if your lifestyle is like that or choose organic fabric because you care for the environment. Your choice of clothing is your first statement to a new person. Make it count.

SOCIETY AROUND:

Keeping all the above points in mind you could always be a standout in a crowd. However, there is one factor that always dictates a huge part of wardrobe choice. When in Rome be like roman. Be careful not to offend any tradition, law or religion with your choice of clothing. If a religious building requires you not to wear short clothes, respect it. If you are in a country where the safety of women is an edgy issue then do not risk standing out in bold clothes.

You can combine one factor or a combination of these above factors. That is your preference. But be sure to do some analysis before making your next choice of clothing and concluding on what suits you. Share your story of how you turned your wardrobe into a fashionista’s heaven.

  1. Steps to organize your Wardrobe – Laws of positive lifestyle

[…] I personally make a list of every garment I own and fix a schedule to when I am going to wear each of them sequentially. It saves me time to decide what to wear before rushing out for work each morning. But you need to agree with me on this. Find your own way to use your wardrobe most effectively. Some like to make a cluster for each week and take it out on first day of the week for use. But here this section is about reinventing the Basics. This is what I meant when I said we ll talk more about recycling later. That standard blue denim, that black legging or the white shirt go with everything but can easily be overused or get boring. How to reuse it with a twist is up to you. Before you go with drastic design changes with fit,cut or frills think about accessorizing. Wear that shirt with a short skirt for a change or that denim with a blazer for a semi-formal look. That standard black legging can be upgraded with some laces at the bottom or cut short to 3/4th length to be able to use for workouts. Get innovative.
